Notes:
1. A neuron has many dendrites but only one axon.
2. Information flows in one direction - from the cell body down the axon.
3. Information is transmitted inside a neuron by electrical pulse. The information is transmitted across the synaptic gap from one neuron to the next by chemicals.
4. These chemicals are called neurotransmitters. NTs are stored at the ends of the axon. A tiny gap exists between the end of the axon of one cell and the tips of the dendrites of another. Neurotransmitters are released from an axon into the gap between neurons and the chemical either sets off OR inhibits new electrical energy in the receptive tip of the dendrite that is contacted. The process repeats to the next neuron.
5. Neurons make connections in this axon to synapse to dendrite pathway that is electrical to chemical to electrical.
