Latest news as of Thursday morning, September 4, 2008.
For today, expect us to finish the presentations and then for me to spend a little while with you on the new ethics laws.
Paper-grading: I have done better than during any Block I can remember about getting papers graded and back to my students. But there are 40 of you and one of me. I may not get them all graded before 2: 00 Friday.
2: 00 Friday is an abrupt change. At that point the emphasis changes from Block to the internship. Friday afternoon is the time to bring up all the questions about the internship that you have been patiently hanging on to.
For the five interns that I will be supervising, the announced visitation schedule is on the SEED4809 news page.
We now have a way to access my Power Points and handouts from off campus in much the same way as if you had been on campus and within the Local Area Network. Either click ftp://tdata.atu.edu or paste this location into your browser. Either Netscape or Explorer will take you to that FTP area; from there, just go to swdata to find folders for the classes I teach.
There is a new spreadsheet on the law cases that has been updated at http://education.atu.edu.people/swomack/cases.htm if you will click on it.
This time there is a powerpoint from your prof that is designed to bring the whole law unit to closure and help you study for the final. Click here to see this PowerPoint. Some things are re-exposited in a little different way to help you learn.
For the interns that I will supervise, the Womack's internship web page is now active and you may want to visit it to find out dates etc. Throughout the internship (student teaching) experience, I would encourage you to check in on the internship web page to see what is being sent to Womack's student teachers. The visitation schedule will likely not apply to you if you are not one of the five that I am working directly with. But the issues--such a portfolio, licensure, deadlines, career fair, positions open--are those that might apply to any of you.
There is a sample of how to do the law readings if you want to see it.
To see a model of the reading/literacy paper, click here.
There is a new list of possible topics for the oral reports if you want to see it.
