Related and/or Consulting Experience

August 2001                 Appointed as Head of the Health and Wellness Department at Saint Mary’s Wellness and Fitness Center (SMWFC) located in Russellville, AR.  Responsibilities include but are not limited to hiring, training and supervising employees to work on the fitness floor which includes aerobic and resistance training exercise machines.  This position has proven to be one of the most effective training experiences that I have been involved with professionally because I am able to apply the concepts that are discussed in my professional classes at ATU to a receptive and deserving population that is interested in improving the quality of their lives.  I have grown as an instructor because I have been able to discuss many of the programs employed at SMWFC with my students in classes at ATU and have been able to play an integral role in encouraging students to become involved as members or volunteers in assisting with various professional programs sponsored by SMWFC.

1999 – 2001                Assisted Lifestyles Weight Control Center in Russellville, Arkansas with developing and implementing dietary and exercise related behavior change programs for their clients.  These experiences allowed me to gain valuable personal and professional insights into the business side of the weight loss industry.

1998 – current              Employed as a basketball referee for the Russellville, Arkansas Boys and Girls Club.  This afforded me the opportunity to interact with children and their parents in a competitive setting, and allowed me to mentor younger officials into this area.  I have a passion for working with young people and have enjoyed these experiences very much.

1990 - 2000                 Assisted Kersh Risk Management (KRM) with various health and wellness related behavior change programs, assessments and development of training aids and educational materials employed in corporate wellness settings in numerous locations throughout the United States.  The majority of my experiences with KRM allowed me to gain valuable insights into assessing and implementing behavior change programs to people employed in blue-collar settings.

1985 – 1989                Assisted with the design and implementation of various health and wellness related programs for members of the Fayetteville, Arkansas Boys and Girls Club.
