·        Completion of interview with advisor.  The interview is structured around the candidate’s introductory experience in the classroom.  The purpose of the interview is to review performance evidence for level of achievement of standards with particular emphasis on the candidate’s dispositions, and to assess oral language in order to make a recommendation for admission.(Arkansas Standards 1, 2, 3, 4 & 5)

Candidates explore where they’re going and why (e.g., what is the connection of major assignments, performance tasks, and the criteria by which the work will be judged to licensure standards for beginning teachers).

 

Candidates are engaged in digging more deeply into the core values (through inquiry, research, problem solving, and experimentation).

 

Candidates receive explicit instruction on the knowledge and skills needed to equip them for the required performances.

 

Candidates have opportunities to rehearse, revise and refine their work based on feedback and self-assessment.

·        Creation of instructional opportunities that provide for individual differences (Arkansas Standards 2 & 3)

·        Evidence of active, on-going learning through portfolio development, attending professional meetings, school board meetings, and PTA.  (Arkansas Standard 5)

·        Completion of exit interview with Campus Supervisor (or Liaison) and review of performance evidence presented in Exit Portfolio

·        Recommendation of readiness to teach.  (Arkansas Standards 1, 2, 3, 4 & 5)

The exit process will help identify concrete benchmarks for acceptable and unacceptable progress toward meeting standards.  It will also help to identify programmatic changes that are needed to ensure that candidates will, after the completion of the selected program, be ready to teach.
