1.  To ensure that the professional education curriculum prepares teacher candidates to teach all students in the PK-12 school

1a. Analysis of Praxis II specialty area assessments.  Programs will analyze data and program changes may be made based on data analysis

 

1b. Analysis of Praxis II Principles of Learning and Teaching pedagogical assessment.  Program change may be made based upon data analysis

 

 

1c  Analysis of Exit Portfolio summative data.  Program changes may be made upon data analysis

 

1d.  Analysis of survey data to graduates who are first year teachers employed in Arkansas and to their employing principals.  Program changes may be made based upon data analysis

 

1e.  Analysis of Praxis III data supplied by the Arkansas Department of Education.  (Begin in 2003)

 

 

2.  To ensure that department heads and faculty members in the School of Education receive information relative to their assignments and teaching duties in a timely fashion.

2a.  Email pertinent information and reminders to faculty in a reasonable time (ex. within one day) after it becomes available. 

 

2b. The School Leadership Team (department heads and the Director of Teacher Education Student Services) will meet regularly (ex. bimonthly) as documented by agendas etc.

 

2c.  Discuss as appropriate Deans Council agenda items of Deans Council with Leadership Team at the regularly scheduled meetings  

 

2d.  Send a representative to Deans Council when dean is unable to attend.

 

 

  1. To prepare the unit for the NCATE accreditation visit in Spring 2005

 

3a. Complete all electronic exhibits by November and continue regular update.

 

3b. Schedule meetings of NCATE Steering Committee weekly to work on preparation for NCATE site visit until February 2005.

 

3c. Complete the NCATE Self Study document by October 31, 2004.

 

3d. Prepare for a mock NCATE visit by BOE members for October 18, 2004.

 

3e. Continue uploading documents.

 

3f. Develop electronic exhibits chart for who is responsible for which exhibits and when thay should be collected (ex. monthly, yearly, semester etc.) and sent to the exhibits coordinator.

 

3f. Continued refinement of Unit Assessment Plan

 

3g. Pass all or most all of the SPA (Specialized Professional Associations)

 

3h. Receive continue accreditation by NCATE.

 

 

4. To improve communication with departments housing secondary education programs

4a.  Have regularly scheduled meetings (ex. monthly) on accreditation issues and curriculum revision and improvement
