Department Head Meeting Minutes

Agenda items discussed:
Copies of budget will be distributed to all department heads except for Teacher Education budget; it will remain controlled through Dean’s office. Online services for budget reading offered if needed. Access to FRS system will be provided for department heads if they don’t already have access.
Graduate assistants list needs to be given to Dr. Sheets. He will forward to Dr. Hamm so information can be given to human resources.
Faculty absence forms are no longer required by Dr. Sheets. The option still stands for those who wish to complete them.
Dr. Bell has taken care of problem December graduates for C&I. Dr. Holeyfield will check on problem December graduates for HPE.
ATU classes will be offered through AVTI. Keep in mind that AVTI courses are still technical and cannot be used for credit at ATU. AVTI transcript will be separate from ATU.
Tentative date for August 14th faculty meeting
Conversion from blackboard 5.5 to 6.0 has been put on. There is a 60 day conversion time allowed before complete removal of 5.5. Problems may result in importing, archiving and classes using grade book because information will be lost if files are not exported first.
Times will be set for department head meetings so that they
coincide with Dean’s Council – every two weeks; will try for every other Monday
at
Natalie Maples started today as Dr. Bell’s new secretary for C&I.
New Business:
Technology needs:
Dr. Stephenson needs new printer. Dr. Sheets will look into ordering two new printers.
Janitor will be asked about cleaning classrooms for Saturday classes. Mary Gunter takes care of making sure that doors are open/closes as needed.
Seth Brown announced as new faculty member in HPE.
Crabaugh parking lot may be closed on occasion for football games. Football schedule is on the web.
