The Department of Curriculum and Instruction offers three undergraduate programs leading to Arkansas teacher licensure. These programs are Early Childhood Education, Middle Childhood/Early Adolescence, and Secondary Education. The Teacher Education program at Tech has a long history of preparing teachers and is accredited by the National Council for Accreditation of Teacher Education (NCATE).
EARLY CHILDHOOD EDUCATION
The Early Childhood Education program leads to a B.S. degree. It is designed to prepare students to teach children pre-school through grade four.
MIDDLE CHILDHOOD/EARLY ADOLESCENCE
The Middle Childhood/Early Adolescence program leads to a B.S. degree. It is designed to prepare students to work with children in grade four through grade seven. Students enrolled in the Middle Childhood/Early Adolescence program may choose from one of two areas of interdisciplinary concentration. The two areas are math/science or language arts/social studies.
SECONDARY EDUCATION
The Secondary Education program leads to the appropriate degree in the area of teaching (math education majors receive a B.S. in mathematics). Programs offered in the areas of Art, Business Education, Life Science & Earth Science, Physical Science & Earth Science, English, foreign language (French, German, Spanish), Speech, Social Studies (History and Political Science), Mathematics and Music Education. Completion of the secondary program will provide the student with licensure in the teaching area from grade seven through grade 12. Completion of the art or music program will lead to licensure from pre-school through grade 12.
GRADUATE PROGRAMS
The department offers several graduate programs aimed at improving the educational background of teachers. Graduate degrees are offered with the following majors:

FACILITIES
The Department of Curriculum and Instruction is located in Crabaugh Hall. Crabaugh is equipped with a computer lab of 25 computers. The computers are connected with the university's mainframe computer and have Internet access. The building also houses multimedia production stations, multimedia classrooms, and a television studio. A curriculum materials library is available for use by students during classes and student teaching.
