- State descriptions of portfolio tasks make no reference to technology. We need to insure for TECH portfolios that technology is appropriately included.

- Review of earlier action and minutes.

- Re: Portfolio Entry #1. Can we insure that all student teachers will be teaching for a 2-week period?

- Caution is needed re: language that would limit the teaching to 2 weeks or give that appearance

I. How will portfolios be assessed? Rubrics must be designed. Who will do this?

- Portfolios will be assessed via rubrics.

- Design of performance task descriptions will be assigned to committee members.

- Students will need a rewritten version of performance tasks that is student friendly.

1. Philosophy - Gwen

2. Planning a unit of instruction - Dana?

3. 2 of my lesson plans - Tim

4. 2 of my students - Connie?

5. Assessments of my students learning - Melanie

6. Documented assessment of teaching - Gwen

Proposed to delete Pathwise and replace and rewrite to include documented information.

7. Professional development plan- Scott

Possible ways to assess portfolios

- handed in and distributed across faculty

- confined to program

- graded only by campus supervisors

- number would be restricted to people assigned to campus supervisor

- Block instructor

- Hired objective evaluator

- Administrative evaluation

- What is the constitution of exit regarding portfolios?

- Exit will be defined in future meetings regarding tasks of learning

II. Who will assess the exit portfolios? Individual professors or a team of faculty? How do we insure interrater reliability? Should we include public school administrators and practicing teachers? What incentives might we offer those persons if they are willing to participate?

III. What if a student doesn't pass the portfolio or if it is incomplete? Will we issue a bachelors degree in education with a recommendation for noncertification or does the student take an incomplete and work until the portfolio is acceptable?

IV. Barriers which must be overcome?

A. Pathwise training for all faculty who observe student training so they have at least 2 complete observations

Next meeting Wed 10/27 at 10 am and come in with a rough draft of task for committee.
